Pollution by human pressure with a special focus on marine litter

Deșeurile marine – presiunea antropică asupra mării

Marine litter can be defined as any persistent manufactured or processed solid material that is discarded or abandoned in the marine and costal environment. Marine litter is present in all seas and coasts around the world and is a problem with no borders.
Marine litter comes mainly from land and sea based practices, representing the human impact on ecosystems. The impact caused by marine litter have to do with the prevailing production and consumption patterns, because the more we consume, the more waste we produce, as well as with our attitude. Any threat to ecosystem functions and the services they provide, ultimately affects people’s livelihoods and we need to find solutions to the challenging issue of marine litter.
