Marine biotechnologies, a source of a local and sustainable economy: what are the challenges for the future?
Les biotechnologies marines, source d’économie locale et durable,  quels enjeux pour l’avenir ?

The marine biotechnology sector is a growing, emerging sector which has the potential to sustainably deliver considerable wealth and business opportunities to local economies through the development of a wide array of applications in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics. It is the most promising innovation providing a source of natural molecules for a wide range of applications for the introduction of more natural and healthy products on the market that can benefit humans and the environment.
The Marina Mobilisation and Mutual Learning (MML) Workshop on Marine Biotechnology aims to raise the awareness of policy makers, regional business agencies and citizens, students on this emerging sector.

How can RRI – Research and Responsible Innovation provide solutions to the development of the marine biotechnology? 

You want to use your creative mind to develop solutions that best serve individual citizens, your local community and the European society at large. You want to make sure that your needs and expectations are taken into account when local, national and European decisions and innovations are being developed.

The workshop is organised by Institute for Science and Ethics using the World café methodology.
It will involve citizens, scientists, business representatives, entrepreneurs, local authorities and policymakers in an open dialogue. Together, you will define a common vision and a roadmap of solutions and actions to face this challenge. The results, together with the outcomes of the other MARINA workshops in Europe, will be freely accessible on the MARINA Web Knowledge Sharing Platform, used for identifying lessons learned and best practices and disseminated at European policy conferences.
